Marine Camera Solutions were part of the team invited to Valencia to examine every aspect of onboard content for America's Cup racing, including the type of boat, the format of the racecourse and, importantly, the video output for on-air and online viewing.
With our unique experience and the Elipticam camera, we were able to provide compelling agile camera footage from onboard both the boats during the trials.
We have been testing our cameras on the Extreme 40 circuit, at events including Cowes Week and Almeria. The system has been well received by both the sailors and the event management allowing HD footage to be recorded onboard, whilst providing an SD feed live to the Race Organisation via standard RF links.
In 2007 we were commissioned by the Royal Yachting Association and UK Sport to develop an onboard camera system, for the 49er class, that would provide unique onboard footage during the medal race of the '2007 Sail for Gold' event, held in Weymouth, UK.
The 49er was fitted with 4 mini cameras and the live feed was then transmitted over 3km to an outside broadcast unit, where the producer was able to select live changes between each camera via our remote telemetry control.
